I'm assuming you mean today only. If not, I would refer you to his FG splits and let you decipher how they are better than what he gets credit for
Well he is second on the team in scoring average, assistsm and steals.
FG% of our guards
Hickey .385
Turner .363
Stringer .352

In that group which is, admittedly not that great, he is last. I think he gets right around the credit he deserves. I think the real issue is that he HAS to do way more than that for us to be competitive and it isn't fair to him. If that is what you are getting at, I can see that. We need more from him, but he will only be able to contribute what we get out of him.

Stubborn about what? I thought your post earlier was stupid, and stated as much. And you've spent your last five posts crying about it. Get over it.
No need to piss your pants. You are the one that wanted to call someone a dumbass. How dare I respond to you on a message board and try to give you the benefit of the doubt?

hey've improved overall IMO because both have improved defensively and at times, taking it to the basket. Stringer more so than Turner. Turner just lacks that burst of quickness to make defenders honest.
haha, ok.
back to back years of shooting 35%. haha they are getting so much better. I cant believe how many people do not realize how horrible that is. These dudes would be lucky to start at Nicholls state.

just not sure the relevance considering we're talking about the game today and you're going off on a tangent about their player over the course of two seasons.
because someone else brought it up?
you following the conversation at all?

I agree. All of our guards need to shoot better for us to improve next year.
I just don't get the reason for calling out Stringer when he played well today and yesterday.
Hell Hamilton was 1 for 11 with just as many forced shots.

So you disagree that we've improved defensively and that had a lot to do with our improvement as a team. I agree that they have not shot the ball well enough and it has kept us mediocre and that's frustrating.
ETA: and reading this thread again, you seemed to bring it up. Everyone else were qualifying their statements to today it seemed. Really doesn't matter. I still think he was one of our better players today.

have we improved as a team defensively? yes
is it because Turner and Stringer? probably not.
Hickey is a relentless on ball defender and is near the top of the SEC in steals last i looked.
we've added a 7 footer in the paint as well as another big body in OBryant.

I think Stringer has had a lot to do with it. Turner has improved defensively, but still isn't anything special on that end and gets lost out there.
Our problem last year was primarily perimeter defending IMO. So the fact we guard better on the perimeter, with Hickey and Stringer, has helped a lot.

He has gotten better, but when he has a tough matchup like he did today, he will get beat up in the post. I know he can't grow over night, but he's going to have to get physically stronger or he won't be able to get the lion's share of minutes when there is a tall and/or physical two guard in the game.

Yeah, his size hurts him in many respects. Today is a prime example, but Kentucky's wings certainly aren't typical and hard to find many teams in the country that have any favorable matchups against them.

The Kentucky size is certainly not typical (especially Miller at 6'8), but he struggled defensively against UGA and MSU this year and those guys are more prototypical guards then Miller is.

If someone doesn't see that stringer has improved than they don't know basketball. He's much better defensively and also made better decisions. Lets not forget the kis is a soph.
Turner struggled, but i do think he improved.
Hickey is a good defender but gets lost sometimes.

He is too small for sg. Who keeps driving and gets his shot slapped. If he can't play point then he should sit.

a SG that cant shoot is useless. 31% from 3? he shot 29 % from 3 last year.
33% from the field last year. 35% this year?
dude those a fricking laughable numbers.
but we are supposed to think he has improved because a 5'9" is some impact defender. lol. idiots

I do know basketball and when Stringer and Turner cannot knock down shots consistently enough when they were recruited to do exactly that, then there lies a lot of our problem this year and last. Forget the percentages, they are bad enough, but these guys have hot games and no games. There is no consistency. You have to be able to make some shots in the right situations. That is exactly what our opponents did when we didn't. We took more shots than Kentucky. We missed more, and missed more at critical times in the game. Percentages don't reflect that. So as miserable as the percentages are, they don't tell just how bad these two have been.

+1000
The average shooting percentage for the #2 spot is roughly 40%. That is average. He is 5' nothing and he routinely has shot LSU out of games rather into games all year long... As long as he is your best option at the #2 spot LSU will struggle... At a couple of spots in the game today LSU had 3 guards under 6' tall in the game (Bass, Stringer, and Hickey). Kentucky is TOO long and athletic. #scratchingmyhead

Better decisions in what way? Dude he is 5'9" for the most part he has no business on the floor. 5'9" guards do not work in the SEC and we have two of them on the floor most of the time. His shooting percentage is terrible. If you think Turner has improved, you didn't watch him last year he is no where near the player he was last year. I am not sure where you think he has improved. Hickey in my opinion plays very hard all the time and has been ONE of the few brightspots. At this point I question your bb knowledge as to what you think has been an improvement other than defense, which we have improved from last year which didn't have anywhere to go but up.

Oh i forgot where i was at. A board full of sports know it alls.
If anyone can't see that stringer is a better player this year than he was last year so be it.
Turner i can't argue. He was much better offensively last year, but did show some growth defensively.
