First question, does it need to be within walking distance and would you be eating on a night there is something going on at Toyota Center?

Phoenicia/MKT Bar, Bombay Pizza Company(little bit of a walk from Toyota Center, but worth it)

Phoenicia is legit. The schwarma is great. It's very casual as its also a grocery store.
I was disappointed in Bombay Pizza. I like Indian food, I like pizza. Sounds like a great idea. But there wasn't anything special about the pizza. I just wanted some vidaloo or tika masala pizza. So I had a supreme pizza instead.
In downtown you can go from Vic & Anthonys down to McDonalds.

Thanks for the suggestions, It doesn't have to be in walking distance, that's just where I am staying. Radiohead is playing Saturday night and me and the ole sperm bank are going to dinner on Friday night.
I looked at Sorrento, Vick & Anthony's, Artista & Striphouse. With those selections, I will need to mortgage my house to get a meal and bottle of wine, but whatever. Any more suggestions?

There are plenty of places in Midtown, Montrose, River Oaks...which is where I would go.

If you want to stay in that area just walk over to the Grove. It's across the street from Hilton Americas next to the park Discovery Green.
If you want to venture out of the area go to Hugo's for the best interior mexican food in Houston. It's near downtown on Westheimer. It's one of the few unique restaurants in Htown...IMHO.
