We miss on too much LA talent
You say this and then list one example? That's a compelling argument. Hell I'll even give you a 2nd one since I assume the this year part is about Gathers. But who else? Two players?
Okay here's another one I noticed was from Baton Rouge when I watched the Texas - OK State game. Brian Williams, 6 foot 5" guard who has won a starting position with OK State as a redshirt freshman.

Ok. For all of you Brian Williams/Langston Galloway/Markel Brown lovers, who would you replace out of our sophomore class?
Would you replace Turner? Stringer? Seeing as how Derenbecker didn't exactly pan out, I can see an argument there, but at the time, Derenbecker was considered a better prospect than Williams, Brown, and Galloway.
I wouldn't trade trade Turner for any of the three, and I MIGHT trade Stringer for Galloway. That's it.
Brown is athletic. We knew that. If you have watched him play, you would realize that Stringer and Turner are much more skilled than Brown.
Galloway has been solid, but who really knows how he would project at the SEC level. I agree that in retrospect we probably should have taken him over Stringer, but outside of that, I don't see that as much of an argument against Trent.
I'll buy that Gathers was a big miss. No argument from me on that one, but Williams, Galloway, and Brown are for those who are grasping at straws.
By my count, Trent is 0-1 on big-time Louisiana basketball recruits. Jarell Martin is up next in the 2013 class, and judging from the picture on the RB, we stand a solid chance. Oh yeah. He's 10 times the prospect Gathers is. He has top 5 NBA draft pick type talent.

I would say he's 1-2 on big time La. recruits, people seem to be overlooking Malik Morgan, dude can ball

I think where in good shape with Martin. The key recruit is Craig Victor. If Trent signs this kid he would finally open up a pipeline to New Orleans. Thats some thing Dale Brown or John Brady couldn't do.

Although it is a little off topic since he is from Louisiana but Brian Williams is a lot better shooting guard/small forward than Jalen Courtney who was in the same class as Stringer, Turner, and Derenbecker.

Alot of people think Morgan is better than Gathers. We will see, but TJ didn't completely miss out this season.
