If I am a QDMA member is it free?
Will my registration fee be tax deductible like DU and DW?

QDMA members still have to pay. QDMA is a qualifying non-profit so donations are deductible. If you call the phone number provided, they can provide more info.

Thanks for the interest!

I would highly recommend joining QDMA. You will learn a lot of improving your habitat and managing your deer herd.

I have 103 acres and the benefits have been tremendous. Habitat improvements, herd management, and predator control have resulted in healthier deer, more deer, bigger deer, and more importantly, better hunting experiences.

Which is great and all except that the traveling range of a buck during the rut is up to and sometimes over 1500 acres. Bucks in Canada can travel up to 25 miles per day. Managing 100 acres is like pissing in the wind. You pay and feed em while your neighbor shoots them. Unless you have a block of about 2000 acres between you and your neighbors, managing your area will prove to be more than frustrating. You let 2.5 yr old 8 points walk and end up seeing them in you neighbors truck.
I let them walk on my place as well, and I feed my deer hoping to keep 1 mature buck hanging around until I can shoot him.But unless QDMA wants to buy the 1500 acres around me...Not much help they can provide.

There is no Bob Jones associated with QDMA in LA. But anyways...QDMA will teach you how to form a co-op with your neighbors, just like I did. I own 103, but we have over 3000 acres with everyone only shooting bucks 4.5 years and older.

Ahhh, that is the name of the LSU Research Station. I thought you were referring to one of our branch board members. My mistake.

What you're looking for/describing is QTM not QDM. If you're just looking to raise mature bucks, then you're practicing Quality Trophy Management not the Quality Deer Management that involves much more.
