Things Les does that are mind boggling

1. Playing field position battles with the cupcakes on the schedule.
2. Calling plays that cosistently puts the team in 3rd and long positions and throwing a sideline pass behind the line on the third and long.
3. Any one of the running backs makes 3 carries for 60 yards in the first quarter, only to disappear for several games thereafter.
4. No rhyme or reason to the running back rotation.
5. If something appears to work, tear it out of the playbook.
6. Forgetting that the tight ends are eligible receivers.
7. Folding the tent if there is less than 3:30 on the clock in the first half.
8. Saying he has a want or certainly would like to do somethings as if he has no control over making it happen.
9. An obsession with qp's with feet. Make sure your o line can block and find a qb that can pass.
10. Failing to realize that the pass can open up the run just as well as the run can open up the pass.

Less than half of that list is true, and half of what is true is justifiable.

Why is he the winningest coach in LSU history? There must be some method to his madness.

I gotta agree with Ton Chou, in the main...

You're missing the point. I not saying he sucks as a coach. I'd just like to see him go into attack mode once in a while and have some resemblence to the prolific offenses of Miami, Florida and Florida St. in their prime. Hell, even Mike Archer and Curly Hallman would rack up sixty plus on the cupcakes on a regular basis. Miles plays field position battles whether he is playing Arkansas Pine Bluff or Alabama.

...and where did this get them when they later faced tough competition, when things like......field position and experience in tough situations are important??

quote:That difference in philosophy is probably one reason that Archer and Hallman lost more games they shouldn't have. Miles is playing to win. The only way any of those cupcakes (or lower tier SEC teams) beat us is if we do something dumb and let them. He's not gonna let his QB almost lose a game like Troy again. Just because it's not what you want doesn't make it mind boggling.

Yeah, I hate coaches that go 75-18 with 2 conference titles, 2 championship game appearances and a national title win.
Unacceptable. Especially when you lead the team to an undefeated Regular season for the first time in 50 years. Something needs to Be done about this.

1. Les Miles' 2007 team was the most prolific offense in LSU history
2. Les Miles don't give a shite about what you'd like to see

Tom Chou doesn't have the chest to be an lsu fan IMO.

all this is true, and is mind boggling. i agree, and i can see that you are not saying miles is a bad coach.
i can sum up all those points in a succinct manner, though - les miles has squandered more offensive talent in the last 3 years than anyone can shake a stick at.
i like miles, and have not been one to call for his ouster. there is still a lot to like.
for heaven's sakes, this is a rant board, and the guy was ranting. Go ahead, brother. VEnt!
