Here's what I'll say: the concept that first round draft picks don't help make a college football team elite is so incorrigibly stupid and indefensible that I refuse to argue it.

In fact, this whole thread is like a traipse through a Kafkaesque labyrinth of dried dog feces. The original poster wanted to demonstrate that stars were "meaningless" and hence posted a list of 2008 recuits. That list contains only one first round draft pick - the lone five star to play for LSU, thereby proving the exact opposite of what the original poster intended. His list actually tends to show the predictive value of star ratings.

Sometimes all I can do is shake my head. People will go to any lengths just to avoid admitting that the class isn't superlative.
