If Miles likes the attitude that helped Liggins stand up in the grove in Oxford to declare for LSU and a place that will win a championship, and Les "likes that man's style"

Then I don't see any reason any Tiger can complain about a Landon Collins, Joe McKnight or any other home town boy turning his back on the Tigers

difficult logic if extended to all situations, to be sure.

Wrong again. Based on what we have been told, Landon had been "Repping the Boot", and telling people he was headed our way. He gets on national television that he's known he was going to be a Gump for two years. It's one thing to be genuinely undecided. It's another to defraud for the sake of notoriety. Landon didn't cost us anything because we found out in time to change gears (though the fact that he was a local boy everyone was counting on stung greatly). Kiel simply failed to show up, after we had sent another HIGHLY qualified recruit packing because we didn't have an EE scholly for him.

Same? Not hardly...

The nation, and future out of state recruits that didn't care to watch the whole video, or much less know what happened in the Kiel recruiting process, that's who.

Won't argue with you on details, as the extra context does make a difference, but I'm not sure if Liggins didn't do some of the same to Ole Miss.

My point is that Les essentially condoned the actions that recruits take to act on their best interest and applauded the balls it took to do that.

On a very basic level, most of the bad recruiting misses like LC, TJ & JM fit that same mold. Whether or not they were holding a seat for their own notoriety plays into ultimate perceptions, but Les is condoning hometown talent acting their best interests over some sense of loyalty to institution.

With all due respect, now you are just starting to sound flat out ignorant. So if we win a national title, recruits are not going to come play for us because they are concerned that after they bag on their commitment to us we make a comment which, when taken out of context, might hurt someones feelings?

Please, spare us...

Portland, OR... man that NW polyana environment you live in has destroyed your sense of things.

I dare say it will not impact the ultimate decision of 1 single recruit in next year's class.

It's not an LSU rule or Miles thing... but I'm in the camp of committment should be binding. In this year's class that means we know about LC and we possibly don't get Thompson.... but it would make kids think through their decision and make it firm. NSD has become a circus "made for TV" event.... so far from it's roots as simply "the first day eligible players in fall sports can sign a national letter of intent".

Liggins was never committed to Ole Miss first off. Second, he went away from home to play for the better team because he wanted to compete for a national title.

It doesn't even relate to what Liggins did. You just need to stay on the Rant

I'm not sure if the backside of the moon is covered with cheese. How am I suppose to respond to whatever hypothetical one might construct?

I guess we can agree to disagree. While I fully respect (though not condone or encourage) the right of a recruit to change his or her mind, I think there should be a certain transparency about their level of commitment. With LC we knew (or at least we thought) it was between us and BAMA. With Kiel, we were his second first choice, and had made significant accommodations for him to the detriment of others. His failure to advise us prior to his date of arrival caused injury to our program which we could not have anticipated (same is true of Torshiroooooooooo). There's a difference between loyalty and integrity. My dog is loyal, but it still craps on the floor occasionally.

No, the ignorance is you not understanding what I am getting at. Miles bashing on an 18 yr old kid for changing his mind does not look good at all to national recruiting. I understand the frustration Miles has, as do I, but he should have kept it to himself.
Yes, Kiel was a wuss for supposively changing his mind due to his mother, but think about this: Sitting in BR after the NC game with all the negativity going on around campus and the city MAINLY due to the fact that people are dumfounded as to why the HEAD COACH was so ignorant and/or stubborn to devise a half way descent offensive game plan, and not play another QB to give us a fighting shot to at least be competitive, or at least try. Kiel saw the "giving up" that Miles portrayed in the game.

Are you being sarcastic or just an a-hole? The kid lied, like Davis, and left us with a hole two weeks from signing day. And lost another recruit (Patrick miller) because he took his early entry slot. He basically called him a mama's boy. An 18 year old can be honest too. Les just said what was honestly on his mind.
