A Question About 'Stealing' Recruits

Admittedly I am not a die hard recruitment follower. I have always said that until a player wears purple and gold I am not concerned with them. That said, I have been getting into it a little more recently.
My question to the more learned is this: LSU over the past few years has consistantly had a recruit express his intent to come to LSU only to switch to somewhere else. Torshiro would be an example of this. I can't remember hearing about us getting these guys from other schools though. I may be wrong, if so I know the rant will let me know.
I know it is a game, a competition to get these guys. It isn't exactly stealing a player from us, but why don't we do the same to other teams?

This year:
Corey Thompson
It happens every year, for us, and against us.

ok, I figured we did get recruits that way I just didn't know. Like I said I'm not big into recruiting.

Well, welcome to recruiting. It's fun most years.

Each team gets a taste of their own medicine with stealing/stolen from with recruiting. Like Corey Thompson and Torshiro this year it happens every year to almost every program, especially the elite programs.

Ever heard of Ryan Perrilloux? He was a Texas commit from July 26, 2004 until signing day. After remaining committed to Texas up to signing day, Perrilloux caved to local pressure and announced he would attend Louisiana State to much pomp and circumstance. New LSU head coach Les Miles only had the job for a few weeks, and Perrilloux was considered the cornerstone of a relatively small recruiting class. He was the #1 player in the country that year. Biggest signing day change I've ever seen and look what happened with him. UT signed Colt McCoy and you know how that turned out. It happens all the time.
Harvey Williams was another big signee plucked right out of A&M's backyard.
I've been following high school recruiting since 1978 and one thing I have learned, you have no idea how a class will turn out until 4 years after they sign. Curley Hallman had the #1 class 2 out of his 4 years and look what happened with him.
USA Today used to have a "where are they now" site that compared recruits rankings from previous years and where they ended up. I wish I could find it because it shows how many 4 and 5 star players don't pan out.
Relax - life at LSU is still good.

Exactly how old are you? Who were you following? LSU didn't even have a football team then.
