Our two main weaknesses were QB & LB, and both got serious upgrades.

Despite the whiffs, we didn't NEED DE Mario Edwards, CB Tracy Howard, QB Gunner Kiel, S Landon Collins, WR Cordarrelle Patterson or DE Toshiro Davis for success in 2012.

QB: Just having JJ & JLee leave already made us a better team, but adding in Liggins to Mett, Rivers, & Randle just made the QB position a strength. Would have felt better with Kiel behind Mett if he sufferes an injury, but the QB pool is still 1000 times better now than it was on Jan 9th.

LB: I would also be utterly shocked if Chavis can't find 3 bona-fide playmakers at LB with Kwon Alexander, Lo Phillips, Lamar Louis, Debo Jones, Ronnie Feist, & Trey Granier now in the mix. If anything, it should make Minter, Barrow, & Taj Jones step up their games or see the bench.

Now I do think the whiffs could hurt us after this season, even if we win the National Championship this year. Those whiffs could have been '13 sophs ready to take over multiple expected vacant spots. But the whiffs have no bearing on the team we will field in 2012 or determine its won/loss record.

we will probably need some of them for 2013 after we likely lose big sam, mingo, simon, reid, etc

we have a big depth issue at pass-rushing DE. we have rasco and ?? after sam/mingo

CB is likely going to be a big issue in 2013 also. we need major talent to replace mo/tm7/simon/brooks

disagree w/ the loss of Randle and Brockers and the QB position is still very questionable behind Mett, but Debo Jones' LSU film is pretty sick

I agree Freak. we filled some big needs with LB depth. We also have some studs that red shirted last year that will come in and contribute mightily.

The only thing that worries me is QB depth. If Mettendberger goes down wiht injury we could be in trouble.

I see your point and fully agree. The sky is not falling. Starting tomorrow, now that everything has played out, the coaches can go to every top DE in the country and show them the possibilities of coming here next year.

* Hunter is the sleeper, will be great.
* Davis preferred not to play DE

The sky is NOT falling...

Wrong x 1 million. You ALWAYS need high quality recruits and talent. It's what makes CFB and seperates the elites from the mediocre. You don't win championships with 2 and 3 star players.

LSU will win the National Championship in 2012.

Next Signing Day, elite prospects will be flocking to us begging to be a Tiger with plenty of early playing time available, and we will re-load with not-ready-youth like Bama did today.

But LSU fans will be happy claiming "Championship!" just like Bama fans are happy today, even though Bama will lose a couple of games in '12 due to the senior/Junior/NFL defections like we will in '13.

Huge losses after next year. This class was not paramount, next years will be.

Better get that brinks truck gassed up and on the road!

I would hardly call it a "strength". Rivers and Randle are untested. Rivers' looks like a project when you view his recruiting films. I thought Liggins played in a lower classification in Mississippi.

We are all optimistic about Mett but we have nothing behind him.
If we had missed on Mettenberger last year we would be up shite creek.

Compared to "Jan 9th", QB is a fricking strength.
