I could go on all day discussing your "analysis" of the QBs who have started for Miles.
However, I'd rather focus on just two things in your opening paragraph.
First, you are the first person in the history of football to reference a "near side" option. This is a new term. Congratulations. The term you were aiming for is "short side" option.
Second, there is nothing inherently wrong with the "short side" option. It's the exact play that launched Ford to a near touchdown in ovetime against Alabama. It's a good play. Only Rantards could turn a good play into a pile of shite meme.
Soooo . . . you appear to be a Rantard who not only doesn't understand football, but who also parrots Rantard memes. Again, congratulations. There's a group of posters who can't wait to adopt you.
You emphasized one clause in the entire opening paragraph. It's right there in bold print: he has played both a black and white QB during the season in 9 out of 10 years. That clause specifically discusses Miles' propensity to use a black and white QB.
But of course, "this is not a Black or White thing" here. You're just pointing out trends and yearly progressions/regressions.
Okay.
However, I'd rather focus on just two things in your opening paragraph.

So Tiger fans, expect to see the near side option continue......

quote:You have six sentences in your opening paragraph. Four sentences specifically discuss Miles' use of black and white QBs. The majority of your opening paragraph is about black and white QBs, NOT progressions/regressions. (NOTE: I'm giving you a break on the final sentence. Be thankful. It's clearly not about progressions/regressions.)
In doing an analysis of QB's under Les Miles, almost all have regressed after Year One of being the proclaimed starter for the entire season, with the exception coming in 2006 from Jamarcus Russell. Also, out of Miles 10 years of being a head coach, he has played both a black and white QB during the season in 9 out of 10 years. In 7 out of 10 years, HIS guy has been a black QB. This is not a Black or White thing here, just pointing out trends and yearly progressions/regressions. However, it would definitely be of note that it is 95% likely given the statistics that Miles will play Jerrard Randall next year in some capacity. So Tiger fans, expect to see the near side option continue......

quote:Dropped from 55% to 54%, and 10 int's vs. 12. Those are rounding errors.
(Josh Fields) He did win the starting job. But his 2nd year as a full time starter, his completion % went down plus he threw more INT's.
quote:Lost his job to a better QB. On the other hand he got better as a "f*cking" safety. (Lines up next to strong or weak safety?)
(Woods) Went from a QB under Miles to a fricking safety. Really?
quote:How is going from backup to starter not progression?
(Flynn) Was not a full time starter the year prior to him starting
quote:He had a good bowl game against Georgia Tech in 2008, that was it. We probably roll over them with any QB. As a guy who saw the JJ train wreck coming all season I would have to say that he really wasn't any worse than early in his career. He may have been marginally better in some areas.
(JJ) If you really believe this, our fanbase has problems. His best year was 2009, his first year as the full time starter. He got worse in 2010, and even worse in 2011.
quote:He was a much more controlled passer and definitely got mentally stronger (or else he would have probably snapped at one point in this psycho Miles season). He definitely didn't improve as much as he could have under consistent or supportive coaching, but he did improve.
(Lee) Was never the starter for the entire season

This tread also proved that Miles doesn’t have the aptitude to coach in the SEC… Would call him the Dumb Hatter but he’s making $4 mil and trying to play Michigan football in the SEC. Without the quality of player we have, his arse would be history!!!

So Miles' QB isn't going to throw for 300 yards a game like we are all used to seeing on Sundays in NOLA. That's obvious. As long as he keeps winning I don't care. Jan 9 was an epic flop but I don't believe Miles is any less of a coach for it. In fact he has proven to correct his mistakes over time. Don't forget he did win the big game already. As far as the lost recruits, I place that blame solely on the fans. Everyone was so quick to boo Jefferson (Whether or not he deserved it) and bad mouth the team after the loss. You think an 18 year old kid wants to go to school where the fans boo the starting QB?

It only means that Lsu has been without a qb for 3 years

Which 2 didn't regress after their first full year as a starter?
The way you frame this question calls into doubt whether you are really just looking at facts or trying to twist facts to your advantage. Flynn, although just a one-year starter, never regressed, did he? So, of the QBs Miles had at LSU, only the duo of JJ/Lee has been terrible, which, as people have already noted, can be chalked up to them just not being very good. To that, I would add that the coaching of these two guys could have been better, but even with that, neither was ever going to correct fundamental flaws in their skill sets. Let's see what happens with a guy who has the skill set.

Lee improved by leaps and bounds from his first year starting to the second year he started...just sayin.
This is a debatable proposition, and also terribly misleading. For instance, having a 5 out of 100 aptitude at the QB position and then "improving" to 7.5 does not mean you are then a good QB, but you have "improved."
You don't have to be Ron Jaworski to note the following fatal flaws in Lee: terrible footwork, in all years; high propensity to throw off his back foot and finish going backwards (in all years); panics under pressure (in all years); has a very difficult time when his first read is taken away (in all years); stares down receivers (in all years). I could go on, but these kinds of flaws are serious and make it damn near impossible to play QB against a team that (a) you cannot run effectively on and (b) can defend the pass, i.e. Bama.

Backups progressing isn't important to the program?
Apparently not when you have an agenda and try (terribly) to use facts to make your point.

Heard some guy on the radio last year sometime claim that Miles not only had a general preference for the running QB (as in Jefferson), but he said Miles wanted to be able to say (without even saying) to the recruits that he stuck with the brother, since most of the recruits may not say so publicly, but some (not all) like Miles even more for doing so. I am not saying this is my opinion, as I think he just loves JJ in particular (i susbscribe to the nude pics theory myself ), but perhaps there is a kernal of substance to this guys opinion. Ever since hearing that (some random caller i heard while driving I-10 in Louisiana last year), I have wondered.
I wonder if a young black recruit would actually pay attention to that and use it as a tie-breaker to choose Miles/LSU instead of some other school? It seems this might not matter to most, but maybe to some?
