Come on, he's suppose to be a smart character. He should've known that it would be a lot safer to handle it in the diner where there are others who may have helped depending on the kid's reaction. Chasing him outside in the dark was the single most stupid decision he could've made in that situation

I agree that the acting has been kind of poor so far and the plot is developing kind of slow. However, I can't complain much about his character. Although most of us would agree we wouldn't have handled the situation like that his character is supposed to be vulnerable. He's a comic book nerd that is thrown into this type of situation. Add in his past that they hinted at with being "taken" and you have what you've seen thus far. It fits with the whole "I don't know if I can handle this" thing hes got going. Also, I'm not expecting anything crazy to happen within the first three episodes. If they expect to continue the series they can't give it all away that quick. At the same time if they expect people to keep watching they better throw out a hook. Something big will come soon I think...I hope.

Hurley reminds me of Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon saying "I'm too old for this shite" after every intense scene, except Hurley is just saying "I don't think I'm cut out for this."

That scene in solitary with the Warden lighting matches was legit creepy. I kept expecting the child killer to be behind him and break his neck or something each time the match would light back up.

I agree the acting is very sub-par, but I do think the show has potential, mainly because I've always been obsessed with Alcatraz. I just hope they don't frick up what could potentially be pretty awesome.

and Hurley didn't attack the kidnapper in the diner because he's just a big kid himself. That was the point of the show. It's like he knew he should do something, but didn't have the balls to do it. I thought that was pretty self explanatory with the whole "I'm not cut out for this stuff." line every 5 minutes. But eventually I think he's gonna grab his nuts and take someone out when we're all least expecting it......if anyone is still watching that is.
