Going to make a fishing trip this weekend with a few buddy's Saturday morning. Never been to Okhissa so if any OBers got some advice on what baits to use or any useful tips it would be greatly appreciated. Praying for no rain Saturday.

I haven't been in a while. First, it's an idle only lake with the exception of the ski area.
The bulk of the creeks are flooded timber with exceptions on the north end. There's no magic bait - I've caught them on almost anything. The fishing can be hit or miss, but when you catch one, fish the area thoroughly. You're likely to haul in several more.

I have had lots of success with crickets for brim. Can fill up an ice chest in no time if they are on. I have heard great things about the bass fishing there; however i have not had any luck and admittedly haven't tried very hard. Everytime I go it's with my father and he is really into brim fishing.

It is extremely hit or miss.
The Berkley swim baits were money last summer, but I wouldn't anticipate them doing well in the winter.
You'll probably have the best luck finding drop offs and points and chunking lizards or magnum worms carolina-rigged. I'd probably give a jig a few casts too. Directly to the right of the south launch is a good spot to fish. You don't even need to crank your motor. Bounce a crankbait or spinnerbait off of the flooded timber.

When was the last time you went? I'm thinking really hard about heading up within the next couple of weeks. I'd like to catch a few nice pre-spawners.

I went a couple of times last summer.
I have an aunt/uncle who have a camp in Brookhaven. My uncle drops my aunt off there a lot of mornings and she fishes while he deer hunts though, so I get a good bit of reports.
Those hollow bodied berkeley swim shads were what the big ones wanted last year. Most traditional tackle wouldn't pull many in. I'm thinking during the spawn you'll be able to catch a few nice ones on worms/lizards/brush hogs.
I'll be making a few trips up there this Spring. (hopefully).

I know they are going to the camp this weekend, but I'm not sure if she's fishing. If so, I'll bump this thread Monday and give a report.

Most I can tell you is during the spawn fish the dam. I kept saying I was going to go up there last year but between Lake Mary and Old River I never needed to look any where else
