I am not tearing down the success that Dale Brown brought to the LSU program. But you said he needed more money. He had all 3 of those players at the same time on one team. He didn't need money to teach them how to play as a team. Tell me some of your favorite basketball coaches of all time and then tell me if you think those coaches could have won a championship with that team. Dale Brown was a good man and a good fit for the program when he came here. That doesn't make him a good coach, but he is a beloved coach here.

The most glaring similarity is that they are each the most successful coaches at LSU (at their sport)in terms of winning percentage post 1970. The other similarity is that a few posters here will tear down the good things they achieved at LSU.

I think any of them would have had a difficult time with 2 of the 3 playing their first year of college basketball, and after that year CJ and Stanley were gone.

Money fuels success in college athletics. Example LSU football on the Joe Dean budget vs the TAF years.

He had them for one year. Shaq was very raw as a frosh. In fact, he had trouble staying on the court because of foul trouble. Roberts had a great touch, but spent most of the season 30 pounds overweight. Dale actually benched him because he would not work it off. roberts was also in his first year.

Jackson was Jackson but he was a true 2 guard, not a point. He also had trouble with his illness medicalion throughout the season. That team lost in the tourny to another team with NBA talent. Do the names Kenny Anderson, Dennis Scott, and Brian Oliver ring a bell? Pretty good team there.

Well lets just say Dean Smith did not win a single title until he got Jordan, Worthy, and Perkins. Bobby Cremins never won a title with his NBA talent. Digger Phelps never won one while at Notre Dame. Eddie Sutton never won one at Arkansas, Okla St, or Kentucky. The great Larry Brown could not win one a UCLA. Needless to say these guys all had tons of talent.

Being the second winningest coach in the history of the SEC with more wins over Kentucky than anyone disagrees with that statement. Sorry but you ain't winning this one.
