Dale never received the financial resources of any of the modern day football coaches. Everything Dale did, he did on his own. If you think money doesn't matter, think in terms of recruiting budgets alone. Dale did very well for himself at a "football" school. Infact, LSU is still trying to desperately duplacate his success.

Not to mention Dale would have never made such a horrible personnel decision as putting jJ on the court and definitely wouldnt have left him in to basically singlehandedly loose the NC game

Are you kidding me? Dale was a great motivator, but he was not ever considered a great X and O coach. Dale was accused of playing favorites and leaving in his player (ie: Bernard Woodside - aka Bernard "Brick"side) on the court and costing us games. Do you remember the tournament game against Indiana and Bobby Knight's quote with his team down and time running out? Knight basically said that his team was doomed, until he looked over and saw Dale, Bobby then knew Indiana would win and they did. Or how about when the TV mic would listen in on Dale during a critical time out- it was painful to hear how disorganized and confused Dale was. At that time, many attributed our success to Ron Abernathy and his recruiting. I love Dale- but he was criticized for many of the same things as Miles. As is many times the case, fans don't know what they have until the coach is gone.
