That's what I don't get! My nephew was a camper at the Manning Academy. I, along with about 6 other family members were there for the exhibition(or whatever they call it). On the deep balls with no pressure, Jefferson's throws were way off. It looked like he just wanted to show off how far he could throw. We all said,"same old Jefferson." Then we come back and read about how good he was and how much improved. It was all hype!

The reason why people felt the play calling/game plan was similar to Bama was because it was. Running the same plays over and over again out of different formations doesn't mean you changed the game plan. I disagree with Klienpeter on that point. Some LSU players admitted they didn't call a majority of the plays practiced. The plan was similar to game 1 despite different formations.
As far as Miles and all the JJ fans screaming about the pass pressure put on JJ Klienpeter saw it differently. Klienpeter was correct that Bama's pressure wasn't as intense as many people exaggerated it to be. JJ holds the ball forever and gets nervous almost anytime he is restricted to the pocket. This made it look like Bama was all over JJ every pass play.

wow - I hadn't read this OR seen this - great read AND exactly the sort of information I look to tigerdroppings and the tiger rant for...
i thought LSU was a handful of plays, and play calls, from a much better game and after reading i still think so. jefferson, and i have supported him, managed to make his usual mistakes... a dropped snap or two, slow on the trigger, inability to throw his man open and i have always thought he was / is a very mediorce option quarterback - good runner but poor option.
with the increased number of false starts under jefferson, i am convinced his cadence is problematic too. we seemed to have zero illegal procedures with lee at the helm. i am certain i am not the first poster to see this.
i wish we got our rematch - bama needs to thank their lucky stars.

Shows how dumb this board is. We did make changes. Unfortunately, they did not work, but that happens sometimes
Their defense dictated our changes along with several careless penalties on us. The change we should have made never happened.

1 thing I definitely noticed was Rueben's blocking on the bubble screen, or lack thereof. they should have kept him as the guy catching and used D-Lo or Boone to block it. didn't really pick up on his other missed blocks, but if Kleinpeter's seeing em, and McShay noticed him loafing on routes, not a good thing for him heading to the draft.
hopefully it's not a a big issue, I always liked RR. he can be a good blocker when he's trying, unlike Toliver, who never could block even on the rare occasions he tried.

ABSOLUTELY. i am convinced that every QB (and person for that matter) has a kind of clock in his head - the ability to anticipate events chronologically. don't you know people who always have their oil changed at exactly 3k miles and others who just can't seem to remember. people who forget doctor's appointments or despite their bestest effort in the whole world, are still 15 minutes late to every appointment, even when reminded of it all day long! people who are ALWAYS rushing because they are ALWAYS behind schedule.
jj doesn't have this all-important QB gift. in fact, he is extremely deficient in this area. on more than one occasion, he has had trouble getting the ball snapped in time AFTER A TIMEOUT!!! that's COMPLETELY and TOTALLY inexcusable.
unfortunately, i believe our coaching staff has some of the same issues. CLM may be the chief culprit. the 'check with me' sideline play calling exacerbates this problem. at least for LSU it does.
but a decent QB can mitigate coaching delays, either by staying up in the coach's grill (gimme a play gimme a play GIMME A PLAY COACH!!!!!) and if they aren't going to send in the play the QB can call ANOTHER timeout or even call his own play. Coaching deficiencies in this area should be more easily exposed regardless. J. Lee did a much better job somehow of managing the playclock. i noticed immediately in the Oregon game how much more 'fluid' the team looked. In the latter half of the season, we were back to 'static-y television'. that's what our team reminded me of. two steps forward, one step back.
i think this lack of cadence/tempo/rhythm affects the entire offense and team for that matter, and is at the root of the false starts and illegal procedures and is at heart of JJ's overall issues. it leads to his being 'unprepared' for almost every play he runs. it's asinine. he's ALWAYS in a rush. always forced to make decisions too quickly, regardless the simplicity of the situation. and however goes the QB....so goes the rest of the offense.

the adjustment should have been to remove Jefferson and put it in Lee or Mettenberger.

We played the wrong QB. If JL had played and hit a few long balls early, this game would have been very different.
We will never know what might have been because we never tried.

Miles lost the game with the best QB on the bench.
That would be Mett #8
