Let's play the if game.
If the Saints had not made that boneheaded trade for pudding ball Ingram, they'd have had the #56 pick last year.
At #56, the Saints should have picked up a linebacker. The best available at that time were:
Jonas Mouton
Nate Irvin
Kelvin Sheppard
I'm not sure if any of these guys were any good or will be good, but I'd rather give a roster spot to Aaron Brooks and have the #1 pick this year than have had Ingram last year. He was a liability because playing him cut touches from Sproles and PT, two far superior players.

The draft defense part is legit. We dont have any LBers that can pass-rush or run well. Wilson gives us hope, but aside from VIlma, the cupboard is still relatively bare there.
Also, how many sacks did our DLine generate? [crickets chirping] As pass-firendly as the rules have gotten in the secondary, the best way to disrupt the passing game is pressure, and if you cant generate pressure without sending half your defense, youre gonna be in trouble.
