Central coach leaving for Erath??

What happened here? Why would a coach from 5A Central leave a pretty successful program to come coach in shitty 3A Erath? There isn't much in Erath. There has to be some more to the story than him just wanting to come to Erath right??

Read the article in The Advocate. It seems as if he is from there and his daughters go to ULL so he is going to be closer to home. Also says Principal at Erath is a close friend.
With that said, there could always be more to the story.

He and his family are from Lafayette. Erath is a great job with a lot of support. Dotson will easily be the favorite to replace Ted Davidson at Acadiana when he retires.

I can tell you why.........Erath High School has been backed with over a million dollars by a big time Oil guy........Nathan Granger(Erath Graduate).
He has done a great job upgrading Erath's facilities , including indoor practice field, new workout room, etc............
While he may be short on talent, he won't be short on necessities to make a winning product.

Damn that's it? I expected there to be something more to this story. If that's all, what a great hire for Erath then.

What more do you want there to be? He is taking a great job back home and is positioned to get the job he has always wanted - Acadiana.

I didn't know that he was from around here before I asked. I knew to leave central to come to Erath there had to be some reasoning behind it, because hes not taking over a better program.Turns out the reason is he's from here.

Being from around there, I know this. They have the nicest crap around, but are pretty low on talent. Every 10 or so years Erath will strike a good class and make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs, but the talents just not there. It's hard to make it with a bunch of low talent white boys on your team.

good. maybe someone in the district can start winning some games and stop killing others power ratings.

Haha...sorry Patterson. You walked into a shitty district. ND still managed a top power ranking though when they were stuck here.

The stadium at Acadiana High is named after his dad. He was an asst at STM for quite a while. Erath is the perfect job as it is as close to a private school as a public school can get.
The talent issue is sort of a fallacy. They have talent in the school, they just need to get better coaching.

Well, with improved coaching they can certainly make a splash. The district is so crappy that on better coaching alone they can beat the rest of the parish teams. That always gives them a shot at the playoffs. I'm just saying that I doubt it very seriously that Erath is ever a team that makes it into the quarters or semi of the playoffs. Seems like this is just the right hire for them though.

Sid will take back over. The coach had pre-season off the field issues. Instead of firing him they said find another job.

What kind of off the field issues? Are you talking about the Erath coach now?
Posted on 1/13/12 at 10:12 am to trilltiger
See that's what I had heard rumors of, but I wasn't going to come here and directly ask that and start the rumor here if it wasn't true.
Would it maybe have been with a teacher??
