I just got back from Afghanistan in February. I am also a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard. I am in a position where I get to hear a lot about everything that is going on with the Engineers that are deployed to Afghanistan. I have a really good friend of mine in the 926th that I have not been able to confirm the following statement with, but where I work I have very good reason to believe it is true. I know it seems ridiculous, but they are NOT IN TROUBLE for painting the billboard or anything to do with LSU. The problem IS that they are OUTSIDE the wire, WITHOUT WEAPONS, and from what I have heard.......WITHOUT PERMISSION!! That is the issue that everyone is pissed about. NOT THE LSU Sign.
I fully agree with "the little things" making life better for US Soldiers deployed to foreign lands. We had LSU stuff EVERYWHERE on our post. You could see our LSU Flag from all the way across post, because it was flown 6' lower than the highest flying American Flag. There is a right and wrong way to do things. Just like the people that took pics of themselves with the prisoners at Abu Ghraib.......WHY HAVE EVIDENCE?? Worst thing you could possibly do is take pics our YOURSELF doing the wrong thing and posting it on the internet. Like I said..... I am ALL FOR the showing support for your team (like the pilots from last year that had pics posted on LSUsports.net, but they were inside the wire), just be smart about it!!
GEAUX TIGERS!!

This makes more sense. Now that you mentioned it, only the guy on the left has a visible M4. I guess they could've unassed the MRAP in the pic but if what you say is true that is clearly a breach of protocol, OPSEC and just plain stupid.
