For the other poster - horses are cowards. They are at the top of "flight" animals while humans are the ultimate "fight." Almost universally horses will run from humans before confronting one

You obviously missed most of his post. He said "thankfully the horses are well trained". He's right. Most horses will kick, very hard, if they are slapped on the arse. NOPD horses are very well trained to not react like normal horses. You should know a little bit about what you're talking about before spewing BS.

My friend I dare say I know as much about equine behavior as you. I owned a national champion dressage horse. What did you do other than watch the Angola Prison Rodeo?

Years ago I saw some idiot throw a "Silver Salute" under a NO Mounted Police&Horse in the Quarter during Mardi Gras. The horse jumped about a food vertically, and skittered a little bit. Another mounted policeman, from about 10 feet away, came over and sandwiched the idiot between the two horses. One cop whaled on the guy with his billy club from the front, the other from behind, with the horses holding the guy up. After about 5 or six hits a piece, they let the guy crumple. Foot patrolmen then whisked him into a paddywagon parked around the block. The dude looked pretty messed up.

Don't mess with the NOPD!
