You should have read the article. It's about the "what-ifs" should Alabama win.

After reading some comments from people on the article at the bottom of the page, I have to say,

Do people not understand that the point of the National Championship game is to award the Coaches Trophy and that the AP Poll is completely unrelated to the Title Game?

Anyone that even talks about splits is an idiot. Plain and simple. All the teams in FBS have agreed to the system. The rules are set. At the beginning of the year how things would be done were determined. We have a two team playoff and just like in baseball and basketball etc who ever wins the tournament wins. Football has a two team tournament and the winner is the champion. There is nothing to debate about who is champion. The only debate is teams arguing that they should have been in the tournament... just like in baseball and basketball.

This voter knows what he's talking about:

quote:

"Unless Alabama absolutely dominates LSU and leaves no doubt that it is a superior football team, I will be voting for LSU," he said. "I am voting for the No. 1 team in the country for the 2011 season, not the result of one game. In the case of this rematch presented by the BCS, you have to consider the scope of the entire season, not the timing of one loss."

Yes, it can. And if the AP decides to thumb its nose at the BCS in the event that LSU loses, that's all it is: a meaningless vote by a meaningless group of sportswriters who think they know better than everybody else who should be #1.

That's what they did with USC for the 2003 season, and that's what it would be this year.

Screw the AP. That group acted like a bunch spoiled children a few years ago by pulling out of the BCS, so to hell with them.

If they do vote LSU #1, I won't count it. The issue is being decided on the field January 9th. Winner take all.

Yes ap can name whoever they want. But they have no authority just like I don't. AP isn't associated with any college, the ncaa or anything. They don't have the authority. If the stupid ap declared Duke national champions after the basketball season even though they lost in the tournament it would have just as much authority as they have with football... meaning none!
