I can't help but think that a lot had to do with his confidence. Once JJ was let back on the team you could see him slowly start "thinking" instead of "playing".
I have always felt that once Coach Miles allowed JJ back and started pushing for him to have more play time; Jarrett started looking over his shoulder.

You think JJ back in the mix fricked Lee up? I think Lee has proven that he is made of tougher stuff than that.
