Apparently the judge in the case ruled the TABC's beer restrictions to be unconstitutional.

So that's good news for Texas beer drinkers!

Wait, Yell Leader Rick said Texas is a free-market, pro bidness state. I'm confused.

This would be a move in that direction, I'm pretty sure.

Unless it pertains to alcohol or naked women most certainly not. Remember a large part of his base is the far Christian right and very conservative.

But I can guarantee he and Gregg " I sued and got millions but now that I got mine frick you we're going to protect big business with tort reform" Abbot will fight it.

Only wish I had some Jester King to celebrate with.

I have a bottle (belgian size) of Black Metal Stout I opened a couple days ago and haven't finished. Too bad you're not around.

I bought a bottle of the Black Metal Stout and the Wychmaker Rye IPA last weekend.

What's the difference between the Jester Farmhouse Black Metal Stout and the regular black metal stout? Which is better?

Don't know, never tried the farmhouse one.
Apparently the judge did not side with the breweries on being able to sell directly to the public... but expect that to come up again soon.

The farmhouse series uses belgian yeast. I think the regular black metal is better.

I thought that I read that they use a locally harvested yeast from the farmland around the brewery. I actually think I saw that in the latest Beer Advocate mag.

I had to go do some research. I just saw Farmhouse yeast and assumed it was a belgian yeast they were using. I found a description on their website:
quote:
Our farmhouse method involves a primary fermentation with French Saison yeast followed by a long term secondary fermenation in oak barrels with a blend of wild yeast, Brettanomyces and bacteria.

So they are using a cultured yeast and then doing a lambic type wild yeast thing. Interesting but I still think their regular stuff is better than the farmhouse stuff.

I was at their tasting last weekend and they said they were hoping to get a ruling soon. Glad the judge ruled in favor of atleaset part of it. Good brews.
