TD and SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act)

I didn't know where else to post this as it's a direct question to the owners of this site (Chicken and Co.). Where does Tigerdroppings fall under this act if it passes? Other online communities are certain they will be shut down, couldn't TD fall under that category with the sharing of copy righted material between users (youtube links, music links).

There have been posts in the past on this website that has shared access to copy righted material (that includes youtube). Under this Act I beileve that is grounds to ban the website.
I guess I am a bit paranoid but this act does have a lot of online communities around the internet up in arms over these things, and I can't help but think that Tigerdroppings is no different.

y'all can be mad at the op if you want....but he is simply highlighting the stupidity of the proposed law and how the feds actually could find fault with some things that go on around here

That is all I am really saying. It is an EXTREMELY vague bill. Nobody exactly knows to what extent it could be used, but it could go as far as shutting down the likes of Tigerdroppings.
I'm concerned and wondering if we could actually see that happen should the bill pass Wednesday. I'm not trying to stir anything up. I'm asking the owners of the site if they are concerned.

Don't know if it would necessarily shut the entire site down. They may have to disable the link feature
Do you have a link to the article about said bill?

All joking aside it is a very scary bill that could shatter the internet. It's as if the various industries (music, movies, porn, etc etc) would rather blow up the entire world wide web because they can't control it.
If it happens, I would be curious how newsgroups/usenet activity jumps.

Steve Scalise sold his soul as a cosponser for this for a measly 54,000 dollars.

quote:
The bill would allow the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as copyright holders, to seek court orders against websites accused of enabling or facilitating copyright infringement. Depending on who requests the court orders, the actions could include barring online advertising networks and payment facilitators such as PayPal from doing business with the allegedly infringing website, barring search engines from linking to such sites, and requiring Internet service providers to block access to such sites. The bill would make unauthorized streaming of copyrighted content a felony. The bill also gives immunity to Internet services that voluntarily take action against websites dedicated to infringement, while making liable for damages any copyright holder who knowingly misrepresents that a website is dedicated to infringement.[4]
This is fricking terrible. They're basically attempting to shut down the methods by which we in modern society get information and entertainment content. There's no way this will ever get passed. And if it does, they are purposefully regressing our developing technology.

Exactly. It's a truly terrible bill. I've called my congressman in Louisiana and voice my concern, I just hope they give a shite enough to oppose it and haven't been paid off.
I fear TigerDroppings could fall under this.

I hate to sound like a single issue voter, but Scalise has lost my vote because of this. If he can support something like this he is either a prostitute or a moron.
