Thomas Henry "Tommy" Casanova, III (born July 29, 1950) is an ophthalmologist in Crowley, Louisiana, and a former American football player and politician.

It is odd that the name is so close, the occupation is the same and they practice about 35 minutes apart.
Your guy did his med school at LSU-S. Residency and internship through the Tulane system.
Without knowing, I would guess your guy is related to Tommy Cassanova. Genetically, this makes him an American badass as well.
