Why is holding a penalty in football?

I think the game would be better and make more sense without it. I don't really understand the purpose and thinks it is anti the nature of the game. Like QB hits.

It would literally be impossible to stop the run if holding was legal. What a terrible idea.

Remove
For both - unsportsmanlike conduct.
Offense -Holding, Illegal formation
Defense -Encroachment,Neutral Zone Infraction Illegal contact, Pass interference, Illegal Substitution, Late hits should be reviewed.

I agree. Would make the game more manly. You could grab ole frank and throw his arse to the sidelines and piss because you wanted to. frickk rules
