Okay, even RS-SO QB's?
It seems like this very critical aspect has been overlooked.

I used to have a list of NC starting QBs going back to the 1970s, but I lost it.

Soph A. J. 16-29 199 yards 1 pick
SR JJ 6-10 67 yards 0 picks
SR JL 3-7 24 yards 2 picks
Who had better game? None were dominant. QB is the weakest link for both otherwise great teams. Nothing stellar about any of the QBs.
All three are capable of shitting the bed. With these teams, turnovers result in points.

I only see one Sophomore in your post.

Probably close to the same as Qbs that throw for 35 yards a game. Not too many.

This is what I've got for underclassmen who started for NC teams since WWII:
1942 -- Charley Trippi ??? (So., Georgia)
1946 -- John Rauch (So., Georgia)
1952 -- Bill Brigman (So., Georgia Tech)
1959 -- Dick Easterly (So., Syracuse)
1966 -- Terry Hanratty (So., Notre Dame)
1968 -- Rex Kern (So., Ohio State)
1973 -- Richard Todd (So., Alabama)
1983 -- Bernie Kosar (RS Fr., Miami-FL)
1985 -- Jamelle Holieway (TR Fr., Oklahoma)
1987 -- Steve Walsh (So., Miami-FL)
1990 -- Shawn Jones (So., Georgia Tech)
1991 -- Billy Joe Hobert (So., Washington)
1992 -- Jay Barker (So., Alabama)
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
1988 -- Tony Rice (Jr., Notre Dame) [did not play at all his freshman year in 1986 due to new Prop 48 rules]
1985 -- Troy Aikman (So., Oklahoma) [was hurt midway through the season, and replaced with wishbone QB Jamelle Holieway; subsequently transferred to UCLA]

Notre Dame does not redshirt its players. Tony Rice would still be a Junior at Notre Dame if he had played in today's game, as long as he still played at Notre Dame.

Oh. I stand corrected.
P.S. -- And I think I made a mistake with Trippi. I'll check on that sometime later.
