just got back from seeing it. pretty good, definitely a movie a man could see and have it cut him to the core, depending on how introspective he is and how close it hits to home. *sniffle; wipes away tear*
It portrays the desperate, feverish, and unattractive side of sex -- and less 'sex' than a 'primal compulsion' whose call can't be ignored.
I think this one will stay with me for a while. it's tough to unpack all at once. Not that it was a narratively complex movie. Quite the opposite. There seems to be little that this movie is "about," and is instead a meandering character portrait. a very deep, dark portrait
it is uncomfortable both in ways you expect and those you don't. fassbender is excellent, and there is a particular scene where his facial expression are god damn masterful. in it he channels a very complex emotion and expresses it in a way that you almost feel the same way he does in that moment.
definitely check this out if you can appreciate a movie of intense psychological trauma and uncomfortable subject matter

Thanks Leauxgan. I am anticipating this one. I think this may be the movie that launches Fassbender's career. This and Prometheus will be huge for him. He very well may be the next Bond as well..

It was something that stays with you. I cant say the movie as a whole was outstanding but there were a lot interesting things going on. Fasbender is fearless as an actor. Steve McQueen(cool name) is fearless and honest as a director as well, although I felt there was one extended shot of Carey Mullagan with may
Have been a bit gimicky. Nevertheless the was some really good camera and lighting(or lack of) in a few scenes that I was inpressed with. Mainly a simple scene of Fasbender going for a jog. Of course neither I nor my wife realized it was NC-17 so we were a bit surprised by a few scenes. My advice in a precious thread was don't take mom to see it.
