true concerning certain stats...the old "Arky came in and beat them in 07" provides no actual insight about this year's game. However, the history of a coach preparing for a bowl game is somewhat relevant.

They were also much worse teams that we played in order to get those numbers.
Miles will prepare the team better than Saban, but I think it comes down to the offense producing. If we just put in our special teams and defense we can score points, but I am nervous about our offense being inaffective. At the least, JJ needs to not make any mistakes (or jarrett lee, if he gets put in).
I think JJ struggles with one week to prepare, just too much for his head to handle and takes 1 or 2 quarters to get going. With over a month to prepare I believe he will be spot on like he was in last years Cotton Bowl game. A&M had a very good defense last year with Von Miller roaming around. JJ will have a better than normal game.

Im not so confident. Its tough to beat a good team once. Its much more difficult to beat them a second time.
well, according to Bama fans, we didn't really beat them the first time...so this time should be easier.

LSU is more likely to go in to this game overly confident haven beaten them at home. Bama is more likely to come in to this game with a chip on their shoulder.
I'm not worried about this given the way LSU has taken care of business this year. The team knows what is at stake. You could also say LSU will have a chip on their shoulder given they have to beat the same team twice to be called champion.
Although, in general, I place no point value on "chips"

If I was to concern myself with anything in the past about beating alabama the only thing I'd consider would be Nov5th 2011,,,,, eveythign else you mention doesnt mean anything.
Yup.

I am confident in what LSU should/must do to win. The emphasis has to be on playing mistake-free football. LSU has one to two 'secret' plays they use each year. We have been so dominant this year we have not had to do that. This game is no different. Trust the players. Trust the coaches. But over all TRUST special teams. They will win this for us.
The other thing we need is for Nick Saban to be wound up like a ball. Hopefully we are in his head. His LACK of a kicking game is in his head. Unlike Les, whose preparation will include in very good balance Stud, Krag, Chavis etc---Saban will be all about him. You could see it on his face last time screaming into the headset. He isn't ready for THIS opponent.
For all the misgivings about LSU's offense, Ba starts way slower than us. If at the half this game is within 3 points, we win. Conditioning will take over along with that 4-headed monster we call 'The Running Backs for LSU'.
If injuries become a factor, give LSU another advantage. Check at RB. Check at DB. Check at Dline. Check QB.
Alabama has one focal spot to their offense, and if HE goes down, we r in business. They can't prepare for everything we r capable of unleashing.
In closing, this will be epic and almost certainly both teams will find ways to score more than last time. I got LSU in a close game 23-13

On that Penn State bowl game, does nobody remember that BS penalty call at the end? The field was definitely bad, but we lost because we got a personal foul call when we were in field goal range. The clock was ticking down, and one of our linemen pulled a Penn State player off of the ball so we could spike it. The Penn State player was clearly just delaying the game, hoping we would run out of time. BS call that has bugged me ever since.

quote:I see it as just the opposite. Alabama players will come in convinced that the win will come their way if they just avoid the 'mistakes' they made in the first game. Saban's coaching style will reinforce this.
Bama is more likely to come in to this game with a chip on their shoulder.
LSU players will come in remembering the risks, and hits they took laying it all on the field in a hostile environment to come away victorious, only to be told that they are chumps for doing so, cuz we're going to give them a do-over. LSU will come out with a chip on their shoulders looking to prove that everyone got it wrong.

if MIles and his coaches can get LSU players to match the focus and intensity Bama will have, during preparations and game time, then i have no doubt we can win.
Oh, and we need Jefferson to have 10x's the game he had in Jawjuh. We can t have him lay an egg like that first half abnd expect to be able to win. I doubt we come from behind 14 against that defense, esp if they control the clock like Ga did.
