I have fit several kids to shotguns and would say that the most important thing is fit(lop). If the gun is to long or heavy then it is just a big stick. The Mossberg is a good idea bc the lop can be shortened easily and it is relativly inexpensive. Keep in mind that if you are looking at an autoloader that the stocks can't be cut down as much due to the action return spring being the stock. The 870 youth has been improved with the fore end being longer so the kids don't have as much trouble reaching. I would recommend the CZ 720 youth for a solid autoloader. I know two guys that hunt real close to 60 days a year and take the kids along on these hunts. They DO NOT clean their guns for shite and the CZ keeps on rolling! Good luck to you and your kids.
