Now, after watching the movie as a grown person, it just made me irrationally mad to the point that I had to vent to my wife . Now I have to read through every page of this just to see if I'm tripping or not.

Trust me, everyone in this thread has approached the movies with absolute love. My parents and I watched Home Alone again last night, and I would not shut the frick up during the movie. They asked “why do you hate these movies so much?” My answer was I love these movies. Critiquing them shows they’re actually perfect movies when you realize who the McCallisters are. Very rarely as much of a nitpicky bastard as I am will I say I wouldn’t change something about a movie. Interstellar is in my Top 10 movies of all time, and I constantly bitch that they should have had a better excuse to go to the water planet and that Brian Cranston or someone in his mold should have been cast as Dr Mann, but not in this movie.

The flaws are all deliberate which makes a much more interesting, dynamic, and perfect movie. I rant about these movies because I love them. I love a film that wears its flaws so confidently on its sleeves like the Home Alone movies (first two at least). There’s no question I’ll be in a nursing home one day bitching with my grandkids on how Uncle Frank is actually a mobster pedophile while not being able to recognize their own faces.

I’m not reading through this fricking entire thread, but I annoyed the hell out of my wife with the logistics of Mrs. Mccallisters drive home last night. This is what I laid out to her, and she didn’t want to hear it.

On Dec 24th the sun sets in Scranton, Pa at 4:38 pm. One shot shows the van well underway before dark, I’ll be generous and say it’s 4 pm.

The drive from the Scranton car rental to the actual address of the McCallister’s is listed at 10 hrs 45 mins. I’d give them 30 mins or so added for a gas stop, because that’s 715 miles in a van they’d have to get gas at least once. I’m not adding anymore time for traffic because it’s majority I-80 at night and honestly they may pickup time. We know Kate is psycho about getting there ASAP so they’re gonna drive straight through, no stops unless mandatory. That puts it at around 11 and a half hour drive.

Knowing that information, Mrs McCallister should’ve pulled up to the house at between 3- 4 am.

Sunrise on the 25th in Winnetka is at 7:18 am. She pulls up well after the sun has risen, at what looks to me to be between 8-9 am on a snowy day. But even if she pulled up directly at sunrise that means her and the polka band fricked around on the road for 3-4 hrs. That’s 3-4 hrs I would’ve never forgiven her for if I’m Kevin and analyzed it myself years later.
