Tension over time.

Old man Marley just wasn’t a good father to son growing up. Suffered from PTSD from Korean War, had Chicago union bull shite at work all the time. Old man carried a lot of stress and thought his son was soft (cause he would half arse shovel the driveway and was a momma’s boy). Hard on the kid.

Son then marries a redhead who ran the show and demanded he passive aggressively confront the old man. You think old man gonna take that shite? No way. Blow up ensues. They don’t speak. Old man softens up as most do. Regretful but stuck in his old ways, he just can’t come out and say how he feels. War will do that to man. Shame.
