is the passes to the rbs out of the backfield and to their te. i think our db's handle their wr's very well. i just see their underneath game thriving. LSU is going to have to score and hopefully, create some turnovers. does anyone else see this as a weakness of the chavis scheme?

I've noticed the same thing - hopefully we've got a solution for this one...

I think its more of a weakness of our linebackers recognizing it and moving laterally fast enough to make the tackle.

Bama's swing passes out to TR went for a lot of yards over the course of the game while our LB's reached for arm and ankle tackles. But the Pig's RB's won't be TR and a decent tackling effort should stand them up muche easier.

But yes...RB's off the edge be it a pitch/screen/swing pass seem to be a weakness of this defense.

Think it was just the Bama game. The underneath and quick screens IS the base of the Oregon offense and we stuffed them extremely well. I think Chavis wasn't expecting that from Bama was the problem. He should be expecting it from Arky since it is a main asset of their offense.

i hope you are right. i keep coming back to the west virginia game though as they nickeled and dimed our defense to death.

Good point.

Auburn did get a couple of 15 or so yard runs off of the edge too though.

They didn't get as far as TR. He really IS that difficult to tackle. I don't suspect Pig RB's to be any harder to take down than Oregon, Florida or Auburn's "Hey look at me! I'm tiny and fast so I'm good at football" type of running backs.

It's going to be the 3rd best offense we've faced this year. So no one is disrespecting Arkansas.

But don't let the combinations of their weak opponents & the entirety of the Top 10 ahead of them stumbling this past weekend fool you into thinking they're better than they really.

South Carolina & Vanderbilt are middle of the road teams, & they struggled mightily with the latter (14 points scored in the 4th quarter off 1 yard of total offense thanks to 2 TO's) & feasted on the former thanks to their starter being dismissed from the team & their All-SEC future NFL running back being out with a season-ending knee injury.

Then they beat a Mississippi State team after pulling away in the 2nd half. But not before their "defense" watched Brett Favre's nephew TRUCK their Safeties on his way into the end-zone.

I am not scared. I respect them, but I'm not scared of them.
