It's not really fear, although I think deep down everyone is afraid we won't win it all after having such a great season.
Let me explain what it actually is:
What would putting Bama in that game prove?
- That the "Game of the Century" didn't matter.
- That we could have lost that game and achieved the same end result. Hell, the way it's shaking up, we should have lost on purpose so we wouldn't have to bother with that pesky SEC Championship game against another top ten team where we put it all on the line while Bama watches from their fricking couches.
- That winning your conference (hell, your division) doesn't ultimately matter.
- That losing on your home field means you deserve a second chance at a neutral site.
- That even if Bama wins a rematch, they are 12-1 with a loss to LSU while LSU is 13-1 with a loss to Bama. Shouldn't they have to beat us twice for it to count as a championship since that's what is being expected of us?
So yeah, it's not fear. It's common sense. It's an innate problem with being asked to accept a shite sandwich and smile while you eat it.
Just my two cents.
***This post is made in the hypothetical reality that LSU wins their remaining games, which is far from a certainty. I do not make this post to demean, overlook, or underestimate the respective universities of Georgia, Mississippi or Arkansas, or to "jynx" the beloved and exhalted Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers***
