The Astros have been in the NL for 50 years and are getting fricked over, just because they are for sale. If its "no big deal" why don't they move the fricking Brewers who were an AL (that American League for those who some how couldn't figure that out in a baseball discusssion) for their first 25 years or so. Or how about the D-backs? Is that long 13 year history of being in the NL too much for them? frick if its no big deal, why are they giving Crane $70M. Oh and this means inter league play every day, which I don't like anyway.

Move the Nationals. They have literally no tradition of any kind and Washington is a longtime American League city.

The Big Puma calls the potential move to the American League ‘a travesty’. I'm a long time A&M baseball season ticket holder, so I've followed Lance since he was at Rice.

Berkman calls Astros potential move to the American League ‘a travesty’
quote:

“I think it’s a travesty,” Berkman said of the potential Astros move during a press conference announcing his exclusive autograph deal with Houston-based memorabilia powerhouse TriStar. “It’s a National League franchise. I think if they were going to do something like that, Milwaukee’s the choice to go back to the American League; they’re historically an American League franchise.

“It’s a shame, I think, that Bud Selig is probably going to make that be sort of a condition of the sale. I don’t like it. Even when I retire and live here in Houston, I don’t want to go watch American League baseball. I’d like to have a National League team.”

The Toy Cannon is speaking out too. He played before my time.

Former Astros players bothered by impending move to American League
quote:

“The team that should be in the American League is Milwaukee,” said former All-Star outfielder Jim Wynn, who played for the Astros from 1963-1973. “Milwaukee came from the American League. The National League team is the Houston Astros. If they move to the American League, the fan base is going to get really mad.”

An informal Chronicle online poll last month showed 76 percent of the respondents opposing a league change, with 35 percent vowing to sever their allegiance if the Astros were to join the AL. Like Wynn, many fans wonder why NL Central rival Milwaukee, which was in the AL from 1970-1997, isn’t changing leagues. Selig used to own the Brewers and still lives in Milwaukee — two facts that don’t sit well with many Astros loyalists.

Caving in on this would not be a good business decision, Crane!
