How did LSU let him go to the west coast?

He grew up on the West Coast with his mom and I don't think he and Lafleur had the best relationship.

Father, Greg LaFleur, is a former tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts from 1981-86, ending his career in '86 with the Colts...third-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1981 NFL Draft...played collegiate ball at Louisiana State and is former athletic director at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La., at University of Texas-San Marcos and Chicago State University....mother, Leslie Sacre, played basketball at LSU.
as for why he played for Gonzaga: he grew up 30 miles from the WA border is my guess.
Would've been nice to get him down to BR though.
