The BCS championship game is intended to match "the number 1 team vs the number 2 team".
It aint rocket surgery to understand.
The "if you don't win you division/conference" argument is stupid. People who consistently repeat it are ignorant.
The ONLY time said argument is relevant is when you are comparing two teams in the same conference/division for one spot.
Period!
There are other valid arguments you can make, but the division/conference one aint it. I personally think if you're trying to compare 2-3 teams who are close for the second spot, that including the fact that Bama already lost on its home field to LSU is worthy of being considered.

What?!?....
Well, part of my original point IS that Bama lost at home to the Tigers (which is why I mentioned OU in 2003 on a neutral field, and UF in 1996 at FSU). The second point I thought I was trying to make is that the Tigers and Bama are in the same division and that the Tigers (if they win out) play one more game than the tide (against strong competition, no less). To me, it seems unfair, if not altogether ridiculous, that Bama could get into the BCS Championship, having not had to run the gauntlet that a team--who BEAT them--from their own DIVISION has had to run. That's all.
As to [what you THINK my argument is] being 'stupid' or what 'People... consistently repeat', I don't post here enough for you to make ANY generalizations. 'Period!'
