I read last night that Pitt either was negotiating or had negotiated to pay $21 million as exit fee to leave early.
If the Big East lets WVU out early than MU can get to the SEC next year easily. Right now the Big 12 is trying to force MU into playing next year and threatening lawsuits if they wont. Thus the reason why the hold up on announcing they're going to the SEC.

As far as I'm concerned, let them sue. When the Big East sued the ACC when BC, VT, and Miami jumped ship, the Big East received all of around $5 million.
I doubt losing Mizzou for 1 season while waiting for WVU is going to be a big financial hit for the Big 12.
