For a big ten crowd? Get there 5 minutes prior for the best spot.

I've been to a few Gamedays. Get there two hours early if you want to get into the gated part. About the same if you want prime real estate to hold up a sign; since they don't allow signs on poles inside the pen, just find a spot along the fence that is in a sight line behind an anchor chair. If you don't care about either of those things, 30 mins early is usually fine.

Alabama? Most fans for them must feel like you.

The worst gameday crowds I've ever seen (at least on TV) was last year Penn State at Alabama and later that year Alabama at South Carolina. Bama is quieter than a church mouse - lot of senior citizens.

Bama fans, and the rest of the SEC get it. Gameday is overrated. Sure there's going to be students that go and the parents with kids in the 6-8 grade; but for the most part that's it. The bulk of the 80-100k that will be in the stadium(and the rest that go to the bars(whether it be b/c they couldn't get a ticket or whatever)) will be at their respective tailgates getting the smokers going, beers cracking, and bloody mary's poured.

The problem is that Auburn/LSU/Bama/UGA/UT/UF have had the show on campus several times. If the show comes to Georgia Tech next week, it will be a big deal for us because we have only had it once before. The same goes for Michigan St this week. They should stick to a hard rule of once per season at each campus.

I do agree that the show has "jumped the shark though". It is used too heavily as a marketing tool for the ABC primetime game. They could also do fewer of those sappy stories with Tom Renaldi since they all seem to run together. I prefer to watch the Whiparound on Saturday mornings.

I hope you're a student, because most lots don't open until 1. You may have to park and walk to Munn.

I am, otherwise I wouldn't be there that early.

Only time i've went was for the 07 VT game.

Never went back, way better to just stay at the tailgate.

Very boring.
