I hope people don't want Mizzou because they don't think Mizzou is southern enough. Hell Mizzou actually have a good football program. This year will be a down year because of a Soph QB and injured players... Mizzou is still putting up good points. Some people act like Mizzou is on the level of Iowa St, Indiana, Ole Miss etc. Mizzou is not a top tier team like LSU, OU, Bama but they are a middle pack team like Arkansas, aTm, Georgia, etc.

Yea. Going to the B1G has really hurt Penn St. Most of their recruits come (or at least came) from the Eastern Seaboard. It's a little harder to convince those kinda kids they should play away games in Bloomington, IN or Iowa.

I've also never understood the "rivals" that Penn State has in the Big 10. Michigan State and Minnesota seem so forced and silly.

Penn St. = big time football
Missouri = who cares

Penn State was a big name independent at the time just like Notre Dame is right now. Notre Dame may have a larger national following but Penn State was a powerhouse when they were invited back in 1989. They had a perfect season in 1986 and won a national title about 5 years before that.

Actually, PSU has regretted the Big 10 move for years now.
Before the Big East, JoePa wanted another form of an Eastern Conference with teams like PSU, Pitt, Cuse, WVU, BC, etc. but they wanted a TX-like deal of TV revenue at the time, so it never came to be.

My point is that they went from being the premier Eastern program at the time to being in the Midwestern region. A and M is grouped with the southwest schools and is moving to the SEC. Missouri is usually associated with the Midwest or Plains states. Will it work out with the Southern schools. I guess this region switching would be the same for West Virginia. I belive AP still puts Arkansas scores in the Southwest region.
