Who's shelling out for this?

Son wants an electric guitar for Christmas. This looks like it'd be a perfect companion piece.

Looks cool for people wanting to learn. It would really be worth it if they offer more songs in the future than the 50 it comes with. I like the fact you can learn the rhythm and lead for each song.

If you do get it for him I would say get him a decent guitar and the game separate. That guitar in the package looks like a POS.

My first guitar was a decent acoustic cause my parents wanted to make sure I stuck to it and a year later they were shelling out for a better guitar.

I didn't even realize it came with a guitar.

I used to play in a few rock bands during college, so I know a thing or two about playing. I really like the idea behind this. I've been pricing electric guitars (introductory Peavys go for $90/w practice amp and Fenders go for about $120).

Looks like a great way to get a kid to learn without having to feel like he's "practicing."

Not to mention, dad is kind of excited about playing as well.

Yea they have a whole package with a guitar for $200 I think or just the game and cable for $80. I looked at it today while I was at Gamestop.

I would love to see how advanced it goes. I know it is great for beginners based on the vids I have seen. Let us know if you get it for him and give a review.

from what I've heard its a total upgrade from RB 3's pro guitar. Suppose to teach you how to play chords, hammer ons, pull offs, different tricks of sliding to hit notes ect.

Not a bad investment though if your a real noob.(that's who this is aimed at for beginners.) Better than shelling out +$400 then to realize this instrument isn't for you.

Only thing that would hold me back is if the DLC isn't large. For sure RB will keep releasing DLC to support Pro Guitar,Pro Drums and Pro Bass.

I wouldn't mind getting it to get back into playing. Does it actually teach useful stuff?

I bought it. Puts Rockband to shame. I've owned a guitar since I was 20(I'm in my 40s now) and I'll finally be able to play it.

Played it for about 10 minutes. First song they work on Satisfaction by the Stones. Seems fun, and will keep you interested in continuing so far.

Beco, is there a "free play" mode where you can just rock out as if through an amplifier, playing around with all of the guitar effects and what not?

I believe there is a free play mode. They talked about being able to jam and play around with different amps to create different sounds.

after playing it for two days, about 10 minutes each, i really think this will help anyone learn to play the guitar. if your looking for a way to learn, this is it.

only drawback is the song list, which they had more blues.

nice, i'll add the songs when they get them ready.

my fingers are hurting like hell right now also. i haven't really played in over 12 years, but i've been late getting back to my office from lunch every day this week because of this game. that's the only time i really have to play around.
