Why is Houston not trying to court the Big XII? They had a few good years in the old Southwest Conference.

1) They won more SWC titles than Texas Tech did in half the time.
2) Houston would love to be in the B12 but the problem with that is Kevin Sumlin, let me explain:

Since Art Briles skipped off to Baylor and Sumlin came in KS has made a point of making UH very visible in Houston, there is not a night that that guy isn't somewhere hosting a radio show or QA session. He has started to keep top Houston recruits in Houston which is hurting Texas / Baylor / Tech / A&M, the B12 boys don't want them head to head because it would be huge boost to that program.

Sumlin is doing at UH what Patterson did at TCU building a program from the ground up and doing a lot with nothing.

UH did a 2-1 with them if I'm not mistaken. UH played them twice in Austin for one trip to Houston. UH had not been on campus long and had just recently renovated there home stadium. Everyone was jacked about hosting Texas on the University of Houston campus. UT fans were pissed off and making noise that there weren't enough seats for them to see the game. They were accustomed to the SWC days of being able to get 30k seats. THAT was the problem. UH TRIED to accommodate them by bringing in 8k extra seats in the end-zone. UT fans kept visiting the construction site and BITC#ing to Dodds about how unsafe it looked. Those bleachers were built by the same company that built them in ski slopes for the Utah winter Olympics. The structure was certified by an engineering firm. Art Smith went up there and later claimed it made him feel unsafe... and therefore, UH were closing the section. Had they seated the Texas fans there, everything would have been fine.

Anyway, at the end of the day, all UH wanted to do was keep our bargain with Texas. They got two games at their stadium, and UH got one at ours. UH was screwed because they didn't cave to Texas and move ther one and only home game in the series.
