Well, i brewed Sunday. My brother came by to help me out. I don't think i'll ever brew alone again.
So much easier when you have someone helping you.
Brewed the Cincinnati Pale Ale again. I have a good krausen kicking right now.
I am hooked again.
Can't wait to make a pumpkin ale.

I'm about to keg my latest brew I think. I've been meaning to convert to kegs and I think it's time. Then it'll be time for another recipe... not sure what to go with, maybe a variation of the pale ale I made last year that turned out to be more of a scottish red.

JD and I are coming up for the auburn game. Will this brew be for sample at the tailgate?
Posted on 10/11/11 at 10:14 am to LSUBoo
Well my brew measured a 1.050-052 OG. Estimate OG was 1.047.
I think i used a little more DME than called for, but not complaining.
I'm coming close to kegging. However, i don't know where i'll put the kegerator. My fermenting freezer/fridge takes up alot of room.

No. I will probably bottle them the wednesday before, then they have to condition for at least 2-3 weeks. The longer the better.
ETA: If i convert to kegging, however, the time decreases.

You still need a good week in the keg though. People will tell you that you can force carb overnight, but the taste won't be right.

Yeah, thats what i've been reading.

I have a small kegerator now, made for one 15.5 gallon keg. I'm also about to get a large upright freezer so even though it seems counter-productive I'm going to install a 2-tap system into the freezer with a temp controller and use the top half and door as just a beer fridge. I'm getting one that can expand to 4 taps but I'll start with two. Then I can use the kegerator as a fermenting fridge.

I would, but the GF's cousin's baby is getting christened at 4 (which means i'll miss the game)

Well, i have a chest freezer with a temp controller that i use for my fermenting freezer.
Works great. Easier than the swamp bucket i used (igloo cube ice chest).
Though i do feel that that chest freezer would make a great multi tap kegerator.

Probably so... depending on the size you can probably easily fit 4 corny kegs and then either put two dual-tap towers or fit it with the taps on the front. Fratastic converted one into a kegerator and I think he has 4 taps on it... it's not huge either.

I've been looking at the conversion a guy did on homebrewtalk.com. It was also published in brew your own magazine. You've probably seen it.
I think it was a 4 tap. Looked pretty awesome.
But my need to set my fermenting temperatures outweighs my want for kegging.
Posted on 10/11/11 at 11:13 am to BugAC
Yeah, controlling fermentation temperatures is extremely important.
And there's nothing wrong with bottles... just a little more work at that step, but they are also easier to transport and share than kegged homebrew.

Yeah. But pain of cleaning all those damn bottle i have, and then you can cut down on your carb time with keg. But, for the moment, i'm staying with kegging.
Posted on 10/11/11 at 11:21 am to BugAC
The amount of bottles I have lying around is the main reason I want to go to kegging. Too many cases of bottles and then having to clean them all before each batch. ugh.

I put instructions and pictures on our website in the blog section I believe. The pictures are not all of my kegerator, but friends as well. They are not pulled from the web is what I am getting at.

Is there a website or any kind of instructions to read on how to make your own brew? I've always been interested in tryin it out, I've seen youtube videos on it, but I need to find a website where you can buy the stuff to do it. Any help?
