Went to the NC State game yesterday

They definitely have the football culture to fit in the SEC. The stadium was full to watch a bad Wolfpack team play Central Michigan. Wasn't loud, but I can't blame them because of the team and opponent.
The tailgating was very solid, and the parking lot was pretty packed early on.
I asked a couple of fans what they thought the idea of NC State to SEC. Their concern had less to do with leaving the ACC and more with getting killed in the SEC. They don't want to make the switch and be a Kentucky-type team forever more.
Bottom line, I still like them better than Mizzou.

I think NC State would be a great add, but no one from the ACC is leaving.

VT, A&M, OU/Mizzou, NC State was actually my ideal 4 before this.

Would of have loved getting those four minus OU.

I wish NCS would man up and join the SEC. USC owes them for some bad games/plays back in USC's ACC days.

Don't try to add logic to this argument!

I like them as the team from the east... you can't just add A Power team ..
They could offer players from NC a chance to play in the SEC and still stay in there home state.
If i were them I would have been talking to the SEC about membership !!

As a NCSU alum, I find that funny because we're pretty much a Kentucky-type team already but in the ACC. I suppose that we would be more accurately described as a MSU-type team. Basketball is also going to be a non-starter thanks to Yow who hired freaking Mark Gottfried to kill the program.

i think state has lots of potential to be a good football school but they have always underachieved

There's no doubt that State can be good in any given year. We had some great years under Rivers and some decent years under Wilson. I just don't think we have the ability to put it together year in and year out on a consistent basis, which is what you have to do in order to compete for conference titles. We're not doing that in the ACC and I don't see us magically getting better at it just because we're playing the SEC.

I rather NC State than Mizzou!

well everybody likes them better or should as they are pretty much equal in sports but NCState brings more money from a future SEC network standpoint. I think they have more potential also because of the recruiting area.
Problem is getting them to breakup the research trio. Don't think there higher ups would go for it.
Oh and this is coming from a big UM over WVU proponent too.

My understanding is that NC State didn't have much interest in the SEC. VT can split from UVA with ease though is what I was told. Dont sleep on Maryland.

Maryland? Maryland? You're making me actually want West Virginia when you start talking Maryland.
I really don't understand the NC State love, either. Mizzou brings more TV sets than NCSU and is the flagship university in its state. NCSU, while a solid school and athletic program, is in a state split between itself as well as UNC, Duke, Wake Forest, and ECU. As a Bama fan, I'd prefer to bring in a program into the Eastern Division, but I just don't think NCSU brings enough value to justify its share of the TV revenue.
