The cartoon strip was Terry and the Pirates. An American guy named Terry Lee went to China looking for adventure and fortune. Along the way, he had to fight pirates, bandits, and various villains. Supposedly, Coach Deitzel was looking for a name for the defense, and came up with Chinese Bandits cuz it was the most bad-assed group he could think of.

they were not "third" string - at worse second & might be first defense- such as mel branch- he played de for kc chiefs for several years. was the one guy the first offense did not want to go against-
