I keep hearing how great the Bama LB's are. I rarely hear much about the LSU LB's. I've watched and have mixed feelings about whether they will hold up against Bama and Arky against the pass, and Tenn and the Barn have failry good Qb's also.

So...

Who can give a report card on the LB's so far. I know Hatcher is lost in pass coverage, but otherwise it looks like Baker and the boys are doing decent. Give them a grade and provide analysis and rationale for the grade.

we will be in nickel vs Ark, so our 5 DBs can help in coverage. LBs wont be a huge issue, IMO

LBs vs Bamas stout run game will be a problem, not only are our LBs mediocre, they are small and weak.

They weren't so great vs kentucky. I haven't rewatched yet, but it seemed like it was either our Dline or safeties making tackles on their running plays

The misdirection is going to kill us against Bama and I'm hoping it doesn't against Florida

We haven't landed a 5 star linebacker in over 20 years. Bama loads up on them every recruiting year. It is our biggest weakness and has been for years. Hopefully, this year we land a couple of 5 stars at that position.

This. I am amazed at how bad he is, and I supported the move.

Small inneffective LB can give us problems with Richardson's powerful run game. Short 3 yd runs will turn into 8-9 yd runs until backup arrives to wrap him up. It's a problem.

Hatcher the LB makes Hatcher the safety look like Tyrann Mathieu

Not a specialist so take with a grain of salt.

C-against the pass. Hatcher gets picked on but every OC will try to find the weakest link in a defense.

B-against the run. Really have only seen one power running game so it may be premature to grade them.

Bama has the best LB group in the country.

if we get into another situation where the opposition is trailing and passing every down like WV, just put Derrick Bryant in the middle instead of the Dreadlocks of (Our Own) Doom.

You also have to take into account the fact we run different schemes with different assignments. We run a 4-3 with a lot if 4-2-5 and mustang thrown in. Alabama runs a base 3-4. Their linebackers have to be Mingo and Sams size

I hope our one glaring recruiting failure does not come back to haunt us on November 5th. Bama with Richardson is the only team that can beat us this year because of our linebacker corps.

Against Bama, expect a lot more Minter instead of Hatcher. Went back and watched the Kentucky game last night. Hatcher hesitates and sits in the hole. Doesn't play downhill enough. It's almost like he is catching the ball carrier not tackling. This will not bode well against Bama and Richardson.

i was a linebacker in college, I recorded 433 tackles in 4 seasons...IMO outside of blitzing...i dont think LSU linebackers are agressive enough...they dont attack the runningbacks in the holes....they dont get over the top of offensive linemen blocks. it seems to me that they dont read the plays very well. in light of the fact that they have awesome Defensive lineman...you would think that LSU linebackers would be rated among the best if not the best in the nation. i taught my son (who is 13 to play middle linebacker. you can find us at (2011 SBR Jaguars...check out his videos) matter of fact here is a link you can follow Dylan Moses #22 he is 8 in the video look at the footwork...if an 8 year old can do this an 18 year old should not have any problems!!! my 2 cents

He will look like Wylie Coyote getting hit by the ACME train.

I wish Craig Loston would be moved to LB right now. He can cover and can tackle.

Move Copeland to LB - then he could use that wildass battle scream on every play.
