we gave up. When a team throws the ball 70 times on you, it's expected that they put up some yards. After taking a look at their passing stats compared to ours, they are not so different.
Yards Per Attempt: LSU - 6.4 WVU - 7.1
Yards Per Completion: LSU - 11.2 WVU - 12.1
Maybe this will put things into perspective and comfort some of the naysayers.

I'm not worried about it really. They just hit a lot of quick slants and small stuff that we were willing to give up. They had no run so we didn't even worry about bringing more then 4 rushers.

We allowed that yardage as much as they earned it. I'm more concerned that we didn't get a sack than that we gave up 450 yds passing on 65 attempts in a road win blowout.

Those people are just your typical LSU fans: bitching and complaining and not having a damn clue. Our Def coaches recognized the potential difficulties with the match-ups, developed a strategy to overcome them, implemented it well, and it worked great.
THAT's good coaching.
A lot of defenses would get fatigued with allowing the long drives, but ours is so deep we can keep rotating in fresh players.
Anyone else think it was kind of like a football rope-a-dope?

The field position caused the yardage differential, especially with our game plan to defend against the screen pass - our drives ended in the endzone - WVU's drives ended in punts - we started at midfield and they started inside their own 10.
It's not any more complicated than that.

i'm a little concerned with LSU's front four not getting to Gino, but not about the yards. it's a gimmick, Hal Mumme style freaking offense that throws the damned ball 100 times a game. yes, they will get yards...but LSU almost/should've (RR's dropped TD) hung 50+ points on them while more than doubling their point total...in the "biggest game of their history" on their home turf. i'm satisfied with that! what's makes them WV and Big East is that they're bragging about all of the yards they threw for.

Why do you have an Alabama logo?

I'm not concerned in the least. It was actually part of the game plan. Force them to throw (a lot) and make mistakes. It worked perfectly IMO.
