shite...Sorry!

Texas A&M makes the conference stronger my arse. When is the last time they won the Big-whatever let alone their own division?

When is the last time they actually accomplished anything in CFB?

Sure they have a large endowment, but has nothing to do with athletics.

Adding a Texas market? Meh, we already have enough money.

We could jeopardize rivalries for the sake of a T.V. market? Really?

This is the SOUTHEASTERN Conference, not the Southwest. I mean Damn why we are at it let's add Rutgers for the NY/NJ market. Syracuse maybe?

More money helps your school fund more improvements. Thus making every team in the league more capable of competing.

So regardless of how many games A&M wins, it gives the league the possibility to be stronger

Dude this is the S.E.C. most schools already have facilities that shite on 90% of the rest of CFB. Without Texas A&M these schools could still have more money than they know what to do with, so they build 100 million dollar facilities for the frick of it.

As far as having money for "research" and academics, we have Vandy for that.

They are better than half the SEC programs. It's a damn good add.

I LOVE college football, but really? What do you think makes your degree worth anything, assuming you went to Tennessee? Your win-loss record? Do you think they originally built these schools to field football teams?

The other roughly three-quarters of a year when football isn't being played, you do know universities do stuff that, believe it or not, is actually important and the whole reason why they exist? All that silly research is what gets grant money, good faculty, endowments, journal articles, technology transfer, campus improvements, good faculty and staff, and on and on and on. In other words, all the stuff that actually makes a university prestigious and makes future employers, be they academic, government, or private, say, "Wow, that is a great school!"

I can't remember the last time I sent out a C.V. that instead of the number of publications and conference appearances I've had was a list of bowl game wins by season and W-L records.

So yeah, I damned excited to add a third AAU university to the SEC (Vandy and Florida were the only two). I'm also excited about how we will all benefit by adding a university that has a $5 billion dollar endowment. That stuff isn't very exciting on Saturdays, but it can mean a lot for the piece of paper they hand you when you finish. TAMU isn't a horrible football school, and the other stuff they are bringing to the table makes them more than worth the add.

I imagine you must be young and not know much about A&M's football and athletic history. Great add.

Yes I graduated from UTK, and got a damn good degree from one of the top business schools in the country(public universities).

But REALLY?

I got my job because I worked my arse off, not because Vandy was in the same conference and my employer thought "well hell, since Vandy is in the same conference he must be smart". You act like we are adding Stanford(which would be a be a better addition then A&M).

But hey now I should start applying to fortune 500 companies since my degree means more with A&M.

We split the South last year and didn't go to the title game based on ranking.

I agree with other posters observations that you must be young.

I also agree with those that say that we haven't accomplished much because we have been subpar since 1999. Need I remind you that all programs go through down times. This to shall pass.

The irony of this is that a Tennessee fan is the OP. I certainly would put A&M up against UT right now. In fact, probably come in the conference above Tennessee.

TennVOLS423,

I don't mean to flame you with my post. We are far too new to this conference to take such liberties.

By the way, check your url on the sig line. It isn't a good url.

This is how I see it, the SEC breaks into Texas state and and split it right down the middle. In say 10 years news will travel from recruit and families that the SEC is really not the devil and that it's actually pretty fun and competitive.

Kids in texas would then want to play and because the LNH which should still be the premiere team int he Big 12 refuse to play ATM who have gone on the record and said "anytime and place." Public perception would be that the LNH are afraid to play against the SEC.

It matters little if Texas ATM do well , just it will come down to what game would be broadcast in the state of Texas on a Saturday.

I for one hope TAMU game time is right around Texas game time and see view wise who neat more t.v sets.

Texas vs Iowa at 2:30 or TAMU vs Auburn. Which would be watch more in Texas?

I could go with that, at least at this point.

Texas A&M will always be a Southwest Conference team. They'll get the shite kicked out of them in the SEC next year.

That being said, they'll eventually be able to compete on the same level as South Carolina. However, it will be a long, long time before they win the SEC.
