Has Cincinnati been mentioned?

How about the Bearcats? They're much closer to the SEC West and to Georgia and UK than West Virginia or Va Tech would be... and it's an up and coming program that could deliver Ohio's TV markets?
Yes, you don't have to tell me... I'm a genius.

I used to live in Ohio. Ohio State has an iron clad monopoly on fan interest at the state level. Cincinnati would only deliver the Cincinnati market.

Well, for one thing... Cincinnati doesn't really fit the model of an SEC school with its metropolitan campus and borrowed NFL stadium.
Beyond that, I just don't think Cincinnati carries with it the athletic prestige we're looking for.
Aside from a few years of recent success in football (and the coach that got them there is gone...), what do they have to show for the last, oh... 60 years of athletics?
TV sets are important, but I don't even see Cincinnati bringing TV sets to bear in Ohio, much less anywhere else.

hmm...the state of ohio is enamored with all things "SEC." call it insecurity or infatuation but the interest is there. people in ohio have devoted entire blogs to debunk the "SEC speed" myth, for example. we can not deny the pride in ohio for all things football.
this makes no sense geographically, but with the potential financial incentives involved, this would be a homerun or at least triple. for starters, cincy would far exceed any money that WVU could bring into the conference.

would you care to link where i said wvu had a significant national draw?
i believe i said wvu would add more NEW tv sets than someone, i forget who the other team was.. maybe fsu? i also said the other team, we will just go with fsu for simplicity's sake, had a larger national following.
the whole point was that people would tune in for WVU vs LSU more than they would some current sec teams, like a game vs kentucky for example.
you cant take things in context, can you?
