L. Collins- Most important recruit in at least the last five years

I may be stating the obvious, but we MUST land Collins in order to have any shot at his brother Gerald "Beast" Willis in 2014. Pat Pete obviously was a coup that set us up nicely with Avery, but Landon and his brother might be the most freakish combo of brothers I've ever seen. Bama will be a major factor in this one till the end folks.

What position does his brother play and how big is he?

Obviously we want him and obviously he's an incredible young player who will be a star for whichever school he goes to if he stays on track, but it's really hard for me to guess who is the "most" important. I mean, you could argue that it was McKnight, or Trovon Reed, Peterson, or Shep.
I love getting commitments from in-state prospects, but LSU will be a major player in almost every Louisiana player's decision, whereas it's a big deal to me to get out-of-state prospects, especially when they help build a relationship with the player's school or city.

Gerald "Beast" Willis is a 6"3 260lb sophomore DE who plays for Edna Karr in NO and presently holds offers from LSU, Bama and Fla, among others. He may eventually grow into a DT, but he's carrying some baby fat right now, so who knows? What I do know is that at this stage in his career, the nickname seems appropriate. As I stated earlier, he is also Landon Collins' little brother.

It would be nice to have a "Freak" and a "Beast" for the interior of the d-line. Looks like he has a similar build to Bennie Logan and Quentin Thomas.

I feel that skill position players, i.e. DB, WR, RB, are much easier to replace, even if the alternative is not quite as talented, as long as you have great coaching and enough playmakers to get it done(Unless we're dealing with a surefire, "can't miss" prospect). Those are guys that are more likely to leave the state if they find a better situation elsewhere. D-linemen, on the other hand, are the ones we can ill afford to lose. Either you have them or you don't, and no amount of coaching can change that. The great ones know how important they are to a team and usually don't want to stray too far from momma's cooking, unless doing so gives a better shot at winning. Losing any of the star d-linemen, much like losing a "can't miss" prospect at any skill position always hurts because they are virtually irreplaceable. I believe that Beast and his big brother Landon fit in these categories, respectively, so to lose both would most definitely be felt when schools like bama and fla almost always keep theirs.

Yeah, that's him. I would agree that Karr has performed poorly as a team this year, which is dissappointing considering all the talent on that team. They've looked completely uninspired as if they expect people to just roll over and give it to them. I don't know, Gerald is still young and may be a little inconsistent. He needs to continue to work on his footwork and he acknowledges that. But from what I've seen, his upside is through the roof. Make no mistake about it though, Edinburgh, Ellis, Dobard and Willis can all play some football.

Pretty good chance they would never play together.

a bunch of college coaches disagree on all of this
and idk if collins in the most important recruit the last 5 years. it seems every year we come across the most important recruit ever, la'el collins, reuben randle, joe micknight, ryan perrilloux, etc.

McKnight, or Trovon Reed
McKnight was a bust and Trovon Reeds grow on trees in Louisiana. Hell, as far as McKnights production at USC, that grows on trees in La too.
Those guys aren't pimples on LSUs arse.
Extenuating circumstances played a large part in both of those guys leaving state. I doubt Collins makes that mistake.

Close...but I'd say Freak is...

I see someone here in BR pretty often who is very close to Collins. I asked this person just how close he was to leaving for Auburn yesterday. I think we had a legitimate reason to be afraid, IMO, but I'd say based on the conversation is was never less than 60/40 LSU.

Frank Wilson has that shite on lock. Karr is VERY pro LSU.

We talking about Landon, not La'el...and I don't believe any of the Auburn shite.

Wait! When did this happen? Is he talking about La'el?

We do this every year. Last year it was L. Collins and Jermauria Rasco. Before that it was T. Reed. Before that it was Rueben Randle and Russel Shepard. Before that it was Terrance Toliver. Before that it was Joe McKnight.
I'd have to say that the biggest recruit had to be Patrick Peterson. What he did was purely awesome at LSU.

I always hate looking at the little brother when they are freshman and sophmores. True, sometimes you get an Al Jones and Chad Jones combo, but I also remember when Marcus Tillman decommited from LSU to go to Ole Miss and everyone said how it was terrible because we wouldn't get his brother Bo Tillman who everyone thought would be better than him, but he ended up not being a big deal.

This isn't LSU basketball. No single recruit will break the back of LSU football.

Same happened with Shep and the Taylor brothers...but you gotta love this guy's size. Hopefully he'll develop.
