Why do we keep seeing these scenarios that have Texas Tech, but possibly leave out Kansas, K-State and Missouri?

Is this just a "little brother" package deal with Texas, like OU and OSU? Because with UT, they would get the Texas media markets. I would prefer Kansas or Missouri to Texas Tech.

I would love Tech,

Mainly because I live in Lubbock and would love to have SEC teams come here.

I like to do my fair share of aggie bashing, maybe you've noticed, but at least A&M is a very good school and is close to Houston. Lubbock is a f***ing wasteland and Tech is the educational equivalent of:

And FYI seriously the only reason you got your own network was because y'all were the shepard for the pac16, which would've given fox a crap ton more TV's so it was a lot cheaper for ESPN to pay you off rather than lose hundreds of millions. So in all honestly, y'all aren't that special.

There are some reports that Texas may have what is called a "Tech problem", that being if they change conferences, Tech may have to come along. It is similar to the OU/Okie State or Kansas/K-State pairings, where in order to get the "more desirable" program (Texas, OU, Kansas) the conference would have to also take the "less desirable" program (Tech, Okie State, K-State) along with it.

However, I've also heard rumors that Tech may be part of a PAC-12 three-team deal with OU and Okie State, forcing Texas to either come along as #16 or get left out forever.

A lesson to our soon to be SEC brethren.

First, it's tceh, not tech.
TTU (Trailer Trash U) is also allowed.

Second, a tceh student or graduate is known as a tceh tard.

Third, they hate it when you confuse their mascot with Yosemite Sam.

If you're ever in Lubbock (my condolences) and come across their mascot start throwing out questions like "When you and Bugs Bunny were both running for mayor, why did you press that piano key when you were the one who had wired the dynamite to it?"

Also, tards generally aren't very friendly people. Realize that with a degree from tceh, their future isn't exactly bright. I can't find my link, but there is a well known picture of a pizza delivery car with a "Texas Tech Alumni" sticker on it.

So now you know.

I've seen all kinds of conspiracy theories: ESPN gave Texas the LHN to save the Big 12, so Texas can go indy, to prevent superconferences and to cause superconferences.

Truth be told, the most profitable entity in the Disney empire, and the proven global leader in sports broadcasting, wanted to make the most money for its publicly traded parent company.

But, believe the conspiracies if it helps you sleep at night.......

Doc Drunk,

Corporations will routinely make decisions that are wrong and/or not return the expected revenue/profit.

Other examples:
-Rimm / Blackberry Tablet
-New Coke
-AOL/Time Warner
-Numerous examples in the Auto industry(especially form the big three)
- You get the idea

I have not seen a legitimate example of how the LHN can be seen as a success. Unless ESPN can get the major carriers to group it in with the ESPN ESPN 2 basic package.

Texas is guranteed the $15 mil a year, but the LHN also stands as a huge weight around its neck in regards to the recent conference mess.

Your like the hot rich crazy stuck-up bitch at the party with a newborn kid. Everyone thinks your attractive , but your attitude and baggage leaves you nothing but being laughed at.

Have fun being a douche on 6th Street.

Look at the facts. It's certainly more than conspiracy. Basically losing Big12 tier1 would wound ESPN. And if you have any business savvy, you'd know that ESPN has made some horrible investments.

Tech has an athletic program less successful than Baylor and somehow in a worse city. I mean, I don't get why anyone would want Tech at all.

Iowa St at least gives you academics and wrestling. Okie State is actually a greart program save football. KSU... ok, they suck. But Tech has got to be the worst athletic program in the Big 12. I'd rather the SEC take Memphis than Tech.

Seriously, I think Tech is the most worthless program in the Big 12. they bring nothing to the table.

No.

Tech will get a free ride into a BCS conference thanks to Texas. Just as Kansas will try to take care of KSU. I understand the realities. But, objectively speaking, Tech is possibly the worst BCS program when we consider all factors (maybe Washington St is worse). It has terrible academics, they've never won a BCS-level conference title, the city is near nothing, and they stink at other sports too.

Even the dregs of other conferences offer something. Or at least good at some other sports. Tech sucks at everything.

Tech should get on their knees every night and thank God for Texas. Because it is quite literally the only reason Tech will end up in a decent conference.

Someone asked, I answered. Tech is going to have a soft landing because of Texas. But on their own merits, Tech is a worse get than Baylor. Which isn't to say Baylor is awesome, it's to point out how terrible of a get Tech is.

Tech will get a free ride to a conference because they are a public school.

Politicians need to watch out for state funded schools over the private ones.
